BSB Championship rider Luke Mossey believes he can claim podium finishes at Cadwell Park for round eight of the 2018 season on 17-19 August, after his strong performances at Thruxton.
The rider has been hampered with injury and bike issues this season but, at the recent round at the Hampshire circuit, Mossey found himself top of the timesheet in FP3 and leading race one for the first 12 laps. He also claimed pole position for the second race. These results have given Mossey the confidence he needs to perform well at Cadwell Park.
“I’m really happy with how Thruxton went for us. We made the right steps forward in terms of set up and bike speed,” said Mossey.
Mossey was unable to race at Cadwell Park last year due to his crash at Thruxton and his broken L2 vertebrae, an incident that played on the rider’s mind with Cadwell being one of his favourite tracks. “This time last year was tough – not being able to race at Cadwell due to my injuries was disappointing. Cadwell is a good track for me, so hopefully we can get our first podium,” explained Mossey.
The Lincolnshire circuit is known as ‘mini-Nürburgring’ due to its twisting and undulating nature; the track winds through open park and woodland, and is one of the most popular destinations on the BSB calendar. The most famous section of the track is ‘The Mountain’, where the bikes will often get airborne, one of many reasons thousands of fans flock there every August.
“There’s no other track like it in the world,” said Mossey. “We recently tested there and we had some really good results. It’s always packed with fans, so it should be a great weekend for me and the team,” he concluded.
It’s going to be another weekend full of action, with Mossey taking to the stage on Sunday.
