Luke Mossey had the best race weekend of his season at Thruxton on 03-05 August – the seventh round of the 2018 season.

The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider has been hampered all season with injuries and bike issues, but at the Hampshire circuit this weekend Mossey and his team had some success.

Mossey started the weekend in the strongest position by finishing top of the free practice three timesheet. He was then second in Qualifying, which put him on the front row of the grid for Sunday’s first race.

The 25-year-old pushed on in the first race, as he led for the first 12 laps, but was eventually caught and finished the race in seventh. Teammate Leon Haslam took the race win, but Mossey set the fastest lap and was on pole for race two.

Mossey was unable to break away from the pack in the second race of the day, but put in another solid performance to finish seventh again. He and his team were pleased to have banished the demons from the earlier rounds of this year and also the memory of his horror crash from last season at Thruxton. “I know the results don’t reflect it, but I am really pleased with how this weekend went at Thruxton,” said Mossey. “As most people know I’ve had a tough year so far, but I really felt that we turned a corner here and I hope the rest of the season will continue to get better,” he added.

Team Manager, Jack Valentine, agreed with Mossey’s assessment of the weekend. “It was a good strong weekend for the team. It was great to see Luke back where he should be: second on the grid for the first race, pole for the second race and fastest laps in both. Although, he went a bit hard in the first race and lost the grip in the closing laps,” he said.

The next race for Mossey and his team is Cadwell Park on 17-19 August. The team had strong results from a recent test session at the Lincolnshire circuit and will hope to be strong from the beginning of race weekend.
