Mossey ready to battle in race one

Luke Mossey and the Quattro Plant TECcare Kawasaki team will start race one tomorrow in fourth on the second row of the grid for round 10 of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Donington Park.

Mossey was consistent throughout Saturday’s qualifying, putting in competitive times throughout the sessions. The Royston-based rider was confident going into Superpole to see where he would start race one.

Mossey went out for his flying Superpole lap in sixth and had a time of 1:28.934 to beat, that time had been set by Christian Iddon of Tyco BMW. Mossey flew round the Derbyshire circuit and crossed the finish line in 1:28.870. It put him top at the time of his lap, but it wasn’t quick enough to see him on the front row of the grid. “I’m a little bit disappointed, I made a mistake on the flying lap. I missed a gear at Schwantz Curve and it cost us 3/10ths of a second. Saying that though, overall we’re happy with how today went,” explained Mossey.

The final three riders, James Ellison and Leon Haslam of the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team, and Shane Byrne on the Be Wiser Ducati all put in faster times than Mossey, which saw him drop to fourth. That doesn’t concern Mossey or the team who feel they are ready for the race tomorrow and will finish on the podium. “We’ve got a great race set up for the bike and the aim is to keep getting podiums. We can easily do that if we get a good start and battle like we did at Oulton Park,” said Mossey.
