Luke Mossey will look to challenge for the 2019 Bennetts British Superbike Championship on board a Suzuki, as he joins the OMG Racing Suzuki team alongside Josh Elliott with the team permanently expanding to two superbike riders.
After a difficult 2018 season, Mossey has seamlessly transitioned to life on the team’s Suzuki GSX-R1000 posting impressive times throughout OMG’s preseason test at Cartagena during November, following up on the silverware he collected at Mallory Park Race of The Year, where he took home the Mallory Trophy at the end of his first day on the bike.
Looking to return to the forefront of the world’s leading domestic Superbike championship, Luke is aiming to be back at the front on a bike that is now established; setting his sights on regaining that all-important Showdown spot and adding to his tally of race wins from 2017.
“Well, the news is finally out that I will be joining OMG Racing UK for 2019, and I can’t wait to get started. It’s been a difficult year for me so a fresh start will do me the world of good. I get to work with my old crew, Ray Stringer, Jonny Gill and Pete Gill and I can’t wait to work with these guys again. We got a long run in on the superbike before Christmas and I managed to get a good direction with the bike that suits me, now the focus is on the upcoming official tests in Monteblanco and Portimao where we can continue developing the set-up before arriving in front of the crowds at Silverstone.”
The ‘M’ of the OMG Racing team, Greg McPhail, was thrilled to announce the signing of Mossey. McPhail enters his second season of racing with fresh thoughts of living up to the promise of being, ‘bolder and better’ with Mossey coming on board.
Greg McPhail, Team Owner:
“The ‘O‘ ‘M’ & ‘G’ are delighted to have Luke Mossey join the family for 2019 to further the huge strides we took in our debut season. Luke is a rider I have personally followed over the past few years and is undoubtedly a huge talent. I truly believe aboard the OMG Racing Suzuki, with the quality and passion of the team around him, there is no doubt he will be ‘Having Fun, Winning Races’.”
Team principal Paul Curran enjoyed his first year at OMG Racing and is looking forward to working with Luke Mossey for the 2019 campaign, in which both parties are focussing on being at the very top of Britain’s premier motorsport category.
Paul Curran, Team Principal:
“I’m looking forward to working with Luke for next year’s BSB championship. He’s had a difficult year in 2018, but we are looking to put all that behind him and push forward to make sure we are in the showdown for 2019 and fighting for the championship.
“He has history with Ray and Jonny and they work very well together so, with the right package underneath him and the support of the team, I’m confident that the results will come.
