Mossey dominant in Free Practice
Luke Mossey and the Quattro Plant TECcare Kawasaki team finished the first day at Donington Park for Round 10 of the MCE British Superbike Championship full of confidence after a fantastic performance in free practice two.
Mossey chose not to ride in the morning session, which saw heavy rain and several incidents on track. Instead the team decided to wait until the afternoon for free practice two. “We know the forecast for the rest of the weekend is dry, so we didn’t see much point going out in the rain this morning. There were a lot of incidents, so we made the right choice,” said Mossey.
Waiting for the afternoon didn’t hinder Mossey at all. In the session he put in 17 laps and came away with a time of 1:29.196. This time was high enough to see him second on the timesheet, just 0.143s behind Christian Iddon on Tyco BMW who was quickest in the session. “We know we’re strong here at Donington,” said Mossey. “It suits my riding and the bike is running so sweetly at the moment, it’s just filling the team with confidence.”
Mossey was also the fastest rider out of the showdown six with Be Wiser Ducati rider Shane Byrne, who finished in fourth, closest to Mossey just 0.071s behind the Royston-based rider.
Today’s performance has given Mossey and the Quattro Plant TECcare Kawasaki team a massive boost for his showdown battle on Sunday and will go into qualifying full of confidence. “It’s a fast circuit and there are plenty of places to attack, so we’re really looking forward to the races on Sunday,” concluded Mossey.
