Luke Mossey will want to put the final round of the 2017 BSB season behind him, following disappointing race results at Brands Hatch.
With the season finale being a triple-header, Mossey set out with goals to finish with at least one podium. However, this wasn’t to be for the young rider.
Finishing Saturday’s race one in 12th place, Mossey needed to improve for Sunday’s races.
On the final day of the season, the rider pushed hard in an attempt to rediscover some of his early season form. Mossey had suffered a series of setbacks in the second half of the season, including a broken back, and wasn’t able to hit peak form again.
Race two of the weekend saw him finish 14th, followed by 17th in race three. Despite the disappointment, Mossey will take positives from the race, including the fact he finished all three races. A great sign that his back is now fully recovered.
Speaking after a tough and mixed season, Mossey said: “The second half of this season has been a total write off for me. Since the accident at Thruxton, plus a few crashes on my return, I really have struggled with my confidence. I wanted to do my best at Brands Hatch. Some of the data shows that I’ve ridden better here than I ever have before. I’m just really struggling to put it all together and get fast laps consistently.
“The start of the year was awesome and I proved that I could not only win races but lead the Championship. I know I have the pace to run at the front and I need to get my confidence back over the offseason, get focused for 2018 and back to winning ways,” explained Mossey.
Focus now turns to taking a well-earned rest, followed by directing his energy into his 2018 campaign and getting back on top.
Mossey said: “I’m sorry to the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team for the results in the last races, but also thankful to them for all their support and continuing to believe in me. I will put every effort into doing my best next season. Thank you to everyone who has supported me and my team of amazing mechanics.”
The off season will be anything but quiet for Mossey, as he sets out to come back stronger and faster next season.
