JG Speedfit named 2017 title sponsor
Bournemouth Kawasaki Racing announced JG Speedfit as its title sponsor for 2017 at the opening weekend of the Motorcycle Live 2016 show at the NEC in Birmingham on Saturday 19 November.
The team will run as JG Speedfit Kawasaki as it spearheads Kawasaki UK’s assault on the 2017 MCE British Superbike Championship, the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT.
2016 MCE BSB runner-up Leon Haslam and 2016 Showdown contender Luke Mossey will lead the team’s assault on MCE BSB with James Hillier contesting the International Road racing events at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.
Making the announcement, Pete Extance, Team Owner of Bournemouth Kawasaki Racing, said: “We are delighted to welcome JG Speedfit on board as our title sponsor for 2017. Their investment, along with Kawasaki UK’s, has allowed us to put in place our most competitive team line-up for the British Superbike Championship, British Sidecar Championship, North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.
“2017 is going to be hectic and I have taken the decision to employ the massively experienced Jack Valentine as team manager to look after all aspects of racing and I look forward to working with Jack in 2017. I strongly believe we have the riders, support staff and sponsors in place to make it a hugely successful year.”
The team will also contest the 2017 British Sidecar Championship with direct support from Kawasaki UK having retained 2015 and 2016 champions Ricky Stevens and Ryan Charlwood. The pair clinched the 2016 British Sidecar Championship for the second successive season at the 2016 final at Brands Hatch after picking up five victories across the year.
“We are also delighted that Ricky and Ryan will once again lead our attack on the 2016 British Sidecar Championship,” added Pete. “I know they are already working extremely hard as they embark on the challenge of securing a hat trick of championships.”
